Laundry room / mudroom makeover
Sometimes the front door isn't the main entryway, because you prefer to come in through the garage or side yard. That was the case in this home, where most of the day-to-day traffic ran through the spacious laundry room.
Unfortunately the builder had provided only the basics: a waterproof floor and two machines.
We added cabinets to hold detergents and towels, plus a counter on top of the machines to allow room for folding and sorting clothes.

Since this room was also the entryway from the garage, the homeowner also requested a bench and hooks so that her children had a place to take off muddy shoes and hang up their coats.
The bench and the laundry counter have a bold patterned grain that adds texture and interest. The final touch was a little broom closet, which we trimmed with baseboard to match the room. This is another one of those projects that looks like it was built with the home. |
