This is the smaller version, at about 6' long and 3' wide. This model was built with a spalted maple top with bold, ribbon-like figures in the grain. The legs and cross bars were reclaimed American chestnut, with maple pegs at the mortise-and-tenon joints.
The handcut joints in this design aren't just an eye-catching detail; they also allow the table to be taken apart if you ever move.

We've also made a larger version from white oak and walnut.
The oak came from a tree which fell during a storm on our customer's property. He had a sentimental attachment to the tree, so he was delighted to see the wood every day in his home. We took advantage of a natural color fade in the walnut to catch the light on the corners of the legs.

This version was much more substantial, about 8' x 4', large enough to put a Thanksgiving turkey in the middle and still have room for guests all around it.
